Producers, have you ever wondered how you can sell fewer beats but make way more money without relying on YouTube or even BeatStars? In this blog, I’ll show you how I get sales like this and how I’ve taught students to get sales for over $500 or $600 and consistently pull in hundreds of dollars a week. I’m not going to sugarcoat anything; this is going to be the exact process, step by step. So, let’s dive right in.
The number one reason why your beat business is struggling is because you’re likely following one of these business models. The first is called the “wantrepreneur,” which means you’re selling a low-priced product and getting low sales. For example, if you’re selling beats for $25 or $30 and only getting five sales a month, that’s only $150. It’s not going to pay many bills or provide substantial income.
The Industry Basic Idea
The second model, which is probably what you’re trying to do, is called the “wal preneur” (a term I learned from MyON Golden). This is when you sell a low-priced product but get a high volume of sales. For instance, selling beats for $30 and getting 1,000 sales a month would net you $30,000. If you’re getting 50 or 100 sales a month at $30, this business model can work. This is where I started, but I had to get 50 sales just to cover my bills.
How I Want You To Think
The model I use now is the “entrepreneur” model. This means selling a high-ticket product but only making a few sales. For instance, I might get eight sales of $500 each, which results in $4,000 a month. It’s not a ton of sales, but it’s still enough to make a substantial income. The question is, do you think it’s easier to sell a lot of beats for a low price, or is it easier to sell a few beats at a high price? You might think it’s easier to sell a lot at a lower price, but the reality is, it’s much harder to convince many people to buy something cheap than it is to convince a few people to buy something expensive.
Now that I’ve explained the three business models, I hope you don’t want to be a wantrepreneur. If you’re trying to do the wantrepreneur model, you’ll need to ramp up your marketing—ads, email lists, and YouTube channels to get a high volume of views and hope many of them will buy. I’ve never had much success with this model except for sending 100 messages a day on Instagram, which eventually burned me out.
Instead, I now run ads, send DMs, or post content to attract a few artists each month. I then sell to them through Zoom calls, offering them a packaged deal. Instead of just selling beats, I include a certain number of beats, services, bonuses, and guarantees. This packaging makes the offer more attractive and almost irresistible for the artist.
Let’s talk about building an offer that will sell. I helped a student make over $4,000 in a month with a buy one, get one free deal. This wasn’t for MP3s or WAVs—it was for exclusive licenses sold at $500 each, which might seem low for an exclusive. The reason it worked was because he had a high output of beats, making up to one to three beats per day. He didn’t have a strong emotional attachment to his beats, so he could easily sell them.
The 2025 Beat Selling Meta
He sold this deal nine times to one independent artist, making $3,500 in one month from just that one artist.
The next example is an offer I used to do that was very successful. It involved selling one custom beat plus a free mix and master. Even though it was high-priced, I sold at least three of these per month. The key to making this work was partnering with engineers who could do professional work for a low price. My margin was $170 per sale, but I was still profiting $830 after covering the engineer’s fee.
This offer also included unlimited revisions, which was a huge selling point. Most producers only offer a few revisions, but I would sometimes allow up to 8-11 revisions. The artist would also get a live session where I’d make the beat from scratch on Zoom, providing an experience they couldn’t get anywhere else. Additionally, I offered a full refund if they weren’t happy with the beat after a month, though no one ever took me up on this.
I now have a new offer that makes me $500 per sale, and it’s not even an exclusive. It’s a buy two, get three free deal. While this may sound too good to be true, it works because I removed MP3 and WAV licenses and only offer unlimited licenses. I raised the price to $250 for each, so the total value of the deal is $1,250, but the artist gets it for $500. Additionally, they get two free mixes and masters from an engineer who charges me just $50, making the deal even more attractive.
The bonus in this offer is that the artist can swap out beats later if they don’t like them, making the deal feel risk-free. This approach makes it much easier to sell beats at a higher price, and you don’t need to sell a ton of beats to make a good income. I teach my students how to work with human behavior rather than against it, ensuring that the artist is excited to buy.
To prove that this works, I want to share a screenshot of a message I received from an artist who bought my beats for $750. This model allows me to charge a lot and still get positive feedback from artists.
I hope this blog helped you. Be sure to share to help this blog grow and help more producers like you. I’ll see you in the next blog. Peace!
